Growing up in berlin, Brandenburg was the void I had to cross to get to the other parts of Germany. Endless pine forests or endless meadows, the wild east. Hidden in the woods one can find relicts of the past, old soviet army barracks or factorys abandoned after the DDR ceised to exist.
In 2021 I visited the chernobyl exclusion zone during a summer school at the polissia national university, zhytomyr. Pripyat is the last remaining soviet city, they say. So much beauty, so much peace without humans, we will not be missed.
Here the shortest path isn’t the simplest. The more indirect, the less risk there is.
